Beginnings of a Collection
I create most of my paintings by designing them as a series. This method seems to build a lot of inspiration for me, and also helps me to avoid getting bored, since I have a number of paintings I can work on at any given time!
Whenever I get to a point in a painting where I just cant seem to get my head in it anymore, or my creativity is beginning to stale, I just shift my focus onto another painting in the collection for a while, and then come back to it when I'm ready.
This is a typical set of thumbnail sketches I might create at the beginning stages of a series. Now, I don't always create all the paintings that I design in my sketches, but it is a great way to build a number of ideas in a short time! Generally I will pick and choose a few of my favorite sketch ideas, and those will be the paintings that come to fruition.
This is a preliminary drawing created from one of the above mentioned thumbnail sketches that made it passed the idea phase, and will become a fully realized oil painting.
Please forgive her hands... I didnt realize i hadn't drawn them in when I posted this picture. Hopefully, you guys get the idea though!

New Studio Additions - Part II
Dried, varnished, and accessorized! Not gonna lie, the French easel was a bit of an undertaking (I had to completely disassemble and then reassemble it,) and I spent a few days waiting for their coatings to seal. But they turned out beautifully!! Can't wait to put these guys to use!!

New Studio Additions - Part I
I've been considering larger pieces lately and larger pieces requires a larger palette! So the other day I went to the art store and the perfect palette for me just happened to be sitting in the clearance section! I just had to buy it!
Now, it's a right handed palette and I'm a lefty, but with a few modifications and turned upside down, I'm sure I'll manage just fine!
Also, Summer is right around the corner so I decided to buy a French Easel in hopes that it will inspire me to go outside and paint more... Wish me luck on that...
There is a catch though! Even though both items were practically steals (Palette was only 2 dollars), I did have one small problem... I like my studio furniture and belongings to match. This required a sanding and staining project!
Here are the materials I used!

Preliminary Sketches for Upcoming Show!
Here are some of the first initial drawings for my new series of paintings! The collection will consist of some figurative pieces as well as still life and floral paintings in seaside themes.
I thought this would be fitting, since I will be debuting this collection at the Galveston Artwalk beginning March 10th!
